A 25-year-old youth, Peter Musinguzi, continues to emerge as a major contender for the Sheema Municipality MP seat. Musinguzi, an independent candidate affiliated with Heart of Nation (HON), a pressure group focused on grooming and shaping nationalistic leaders, is gearing up for the 2026 elections.

The race for the next MP of Sheema Municipality is heating up as Hon. Peter Musinguzi launched his first campaign meeting to declare his candidacy for the 2026 elections. Musinguzi held a meeting with some of the top executives in his camp, where he shared his manifesto and mission for Sheema Municipality.

The meeting, which took place behind closed doors at Hoima Buffalo Hotel (HB) in Hoima District, attracted numerous attendees, including key sponsors for his campaign. The gathering was an important step in launching and planning his bid for Sheema Municipality.

Peter Musinguzi is set to face off against Hon. Dickson Kateshumbwa, the current MP for Sheema Municipality. The race has also drawn other candidates, including former Minister Dr. Elioda Tumwesigye, senior accountant Chris Airyo Katunda, and Eng. Raymond Kamugisha, a Senior Director in Presidential Hubs.

Peter Musinguzi is an oil and gas expert based in Buliisa. He was born in Rwegando Village, Kiziiba, Kagango Division, Sheema Municipality. He attended Rwegando Primary School, later joining Sacred Heart Mushanga for O-levels. He then went to Ntare School for A-levels and eventually graduated from Nkumba University with a degree in Petroleum Engineering and Mineral Geosciences.

Musinguzi’s leadership journey has been marked by significant contributions, including serving as a leader for all students in Uganda from Sheema District. In his speech, he addressed key issues and outlined his mission to unite the community and drive development.

As he campaigns for the Sheema Municipality seat, Musinguzi has identified several key development areas to focus on:

  • Infrastructure Development: Improving roads, water supply, and electricity to enhance the quality of life for residents.
  • Education and Skills Development: Investing in schools, vocational training, and entrepreneurship programs to empower youth and women.
  • Healthcare: Upgrading healthcare facilities and services to ensure accessible and quality medical care.
  • Economic Empowerment: Supporting local businesses, promoting tourism, and creating job opportunities to boost economic growth.
  • Community Engagement: Fostering unity and inclusivity through community events, dialogue, and participatory decision-making processes.

As Sheema Municipality looks to the future, Peter Musinguzi’s vision for unity and development is likely to resonate with voters seeking positive change.
