Obongi, Uganda – Obongi RDC Samuel Mpimbaza Hashaka narrowly escaped death on Tuesday, November 27, 2024, due to the poor state of roads in the district.
The RDC, Mr. Samuel Mpimbaza Hashaka, was monitoring the condition of roads in Obongi District when his vehicle miraculously survived a nasty accident caused by the deplorable state of the roads.
The community rushed to his aid and helped remove the vehicle from a large hole it had fallen into.
According to one of the residents, identified as Hamed, everyone was shocked when Hashaka’s vehicle fell into the deep hole.
Currently, most roads in the district are in a very poor state and need urgent attention. Many roads under the management of the Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) have become impassable, causing damage to vehicle engines and other parts.
When contacted by phone for an interview, the vibrant Obongi RDC, Hasaka, attributed the poor condition of the roads to shoddy work and delays by UNRA in starting work on the Obongi-Moyo road, despite the contract having been awarded and a call-off order given to the contractor.
Recently, the Adjumani-Sinyanya-Obongi road became impassable due to its deteriorating condition.
