Bamasaba Cultural Leader Invited to Key Events by Makerere and Islamic Universities

Umukuka Jude Mike Mudoma to Speak at International Conferences Hosted by Makerere and Islamic University

Both Makerere University and Islamic University in Uganda have extended invitations to the Bamasaba cultural leader, His Highness Jude Mike Mudoma, to attend their upcoming functions. This was revealed by the spokesperson of the Bamasaba Cultural Institution, Mr. Steven Masiga.

Mr. Masiga informed The Ankole Times media platform that the Vice Chancellor of Islamic University in Uganda, Associate Professor Ismail Simbwa Gyagenda, had invited the Bamasaba cultural leader to their 33rd graduation ceremony, scheduled for December 14th at the main campus in Mbale.




In the invitation letter addressed to His Highness the Umukuka, Professor Gyagenda conveyed the university’s salutations, stating: “Assalam alaikum warahmatullah Wabarakatuh Your Highness”, which translates to “Peace be upon you, Your Highness.” The Vice Chancellor further wrote: “I convey to you warm greetings and best wishes from the Islamic University in Uganda. I am writing to inform you of our graduation ceremony and to extend this singular honor of inviting you to the event as the cultural representative of your people, the Bamasaba. Please accept the assurances of our highest consideration and esteem.”




Steven Masiga, the spokesperson for the Bamasaba Cultural Institution, emphasized that all land in Masabaland belongs to the Umukuka, and praised Islamic University for inviting the Umukuka to witness the achievements of those who have studied in his land. He also urged other universities and learning institutions to follow the example set by Islamic University.




Meanwhile, Makerere University has also invited the Bamasaba cultural leader to an international conference titled “International Conference on Geographical Sciences for Resilient Communities, Ecosystems, and Livelihoods,” which will be held at the Africana Hotel in Kampala. The invitation was extended to the Umukuka by Makerere University, as the convener of the workshop, through the Principal of the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, Professor Yazidhi Bamutuaze. This was also confirmed to this publication by the spokesperson for the Bamasaba Cultural Institution, Mr. Steven Masiga.

The Umukuka will attend the conference as a keynote speaker, alongside other high-level dignitaries, including the Minister of State for Environment, Hon. Beatrice Anywar.

On Friday, the Umukuka III will travel to Ibanda University as the Chief Guest during their graduation ceremony.
