- FDC Secretary-General Cautions Lukwago Over Party HQ
In a recent interview in Kampala, Nathan Nandala Mafabi, the secretary-general of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), issued a warning to the leaders of the FDC Katonga group. This group had expressed intentions to raid and take control of the party’s headquarters located at Najjanankumbi. Nandala Mafabi cautioned that such a move would be self-destructive.
He stated, “Let them sign their wills before they come. Nobody is going to play with FDC. Let Erias Lukwago (Kampala Lord Mayor) make a move; I will show him who I am.”
Nandala Mafabi, who was one of the leaders present at the 8th FDC National Delegates Conference held at Patidar-Samaj Sports Grounds-Lugogo in Kampala, also mentioned that legal action would be taken against the Katonga group for using the FDC name without authorization.
“FDC is a unified party with its headquarters in Najjanankumbi, and it does not have any factions. Katonga is a place for activism. So, I want to inform the people of Uganda that after today’s conference, we intend to address those who are using our name in Katonga as FDC,” he explained.
He further clarified that the party’s base is in Najjanankumbi, with offices at various administrative levels, including district, sub-county, parish, and village.
During the delegates’ conference, Yusuf Nsibambi, the Member of Parliament for Mawokota County South, was approved by the delegates to assume the position of FDC Chief Whip in Parliament. The vote on the matter resulted in Nsibambi garnering 965 votes.
