(Nairobi) – The Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results for 2024 have been officially announced, marking a significant milestone for over 965,000 candidates across Kenya.

Education Minister Julius Migosi Ogamba revealed the results at a ceremony held in Nairobi, where he was joined by senior officials from the Ministry of Education and the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC). Prior to the announcement, they briefed President William Ruto at State House Nairobi about the results.

A total of 965,501 candidates sat for the KCSE 2024 exam, which was held in 10,755 examination centers across the country. This represents an increase from 903,138 candidates who sat for the exam in 2023, showing a steady rise in participation.

The release of the KCSE results comes just one day after KNEC published the results for the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) for 2024. This assessment, which took place from October 28 to November 1, saw 1,303,913 Grade 6 students from all over Kenya participating.

The KPSEA was administered in 35,573 centers nationwide, and the students who completed the exam have now advanced to Grade 7, which is still part of their primary school education.

This year’s KCSE results are part of an ongoing effort to ensure the smooth transition between educational stages, as the country continues to adapt to changes in the education system under the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).
