Kisoro Municipality Town Clerk, Alikwani Kisubi Ayubu, is facing criticism for failing to attend a meeting he had scheduled with the Kisoro United Boda-Boda Operators (KUBO) leadership.

In a letter dated February 4, 2025, Ayubu called for the meeting with the Chairperson and executive members of KUBO to discuss the increasing number of unauthorized boda-boda stages in the town.

In the letter, Ayubu highlighted that in 2009, the then-town clerk allocated 11 boda-boda stages to KUBO within Kisoro town.

However, due to the growing population and business activities, additional stages have been created and altered without the knowledge or approval of the Municipal Council.

When the KUBO leadership, led by Chairperson Robert Kalangala, arrived at the Kisoro Municipal Main Hall at 3:00 PM for the meeting, they were dismayed to find that no municipal officials were present.

This absence sparked anger among the KUBO leadership, who accused Ayubu of neglecting their concerns and undermining the boda-boda community.

Kalangala also pointed out that the boda-boda stages in Kisoro are all legally operational and have been gazetted by the Kisoro Municipality.

Kalangala emphasized the need for greater collaboration among KUBO leaders to improve service delivery for their customers.

In response, Ayubu, when contacted by phone, explained that his absence was due to his attendance at his uncle’s burial, which may have contributed to the absence of municipal authorities from the meeting.
