Metropolitan International University Celebrates 7th Graduation with Over 3,000 Students

Metropolitan International University (MIU) will celebrate its 7th graduation ceremony on Friday at Shaaza Playground in Kisoro Municipality, honoring 3,005 graduands. Among them, 26 students will graduate with First-Class degrees, and 62 will be awarded Master’s degrees.

Mohammed Ismail will receive the academic excellence award for the graduating class of 2025, achieving an exceptional CGPA of 4.88 in Bachelor of Information Technology. The graduation’s theme is “Exploring Global Trends, Igniting Innovation through Artificial Intelligence in the 21st Century,” and the guest of honor is the Minister of State for Kampala Capital City and Metropolitan Affairs, Hon. Kyofatogabye Kabuye.




The breakdown of the 3,005 graduands is as follows: 62 Master’s degrees, 16 Postgraduate Diplomas, 2,003 undergraduate degrees, 474 diplomas, and 450 National Certificates. Of the total, 1,717 are male, and 1,288 are female.




During the commencement lecture on Wednesday in the university’s main hall, Vice Chancellor Dr. Julius Arinaitwe encouraged graduands to embrace skills and professionalism to remain competitive in the face of advancing artificial intelligence and automation.




Dr. Arinaitwe advised the graduands to cultivate discipline and hard work by setting clear goals, staying motivated, creating a schedule, and developing a routine that balances work, rest, and leisure to maintain focus and avoid procrastination, which are essential for success in the 21st century.

He also reminded the graduands of the high unemployment rates nationally and globally, urging them to embrace investment and entrepreneurship to improve their livelihoods.

Academic Registrar Kaziro Nicholas commended the graduands for their discipline throughout their academic journey and encouraged them to be ambassadors of the university.




Kaziro emphasized that the graduands have learned from failures, avoided multitasking, and utilized time-management tools such as calendars, planners, and apps to stay organized and focused, enabling them to excel.

Anthony Tumwine, a Journalism and Media Studies lecturer graduating with a Master’s degree in Monitoring and Evaluation, acknowledged MIU for achieving this significant milestone of graduating over 3,000 students.

Tumwine encouraged graduands to prioritize development and skills development as a means of earning income, assuring them that MIU graduates are equipped with knowledge that facilitates acquiring valuable skills and lifestyles.




Kato Timothy, who will graduate with a First-Class degree in Agriculture and Rural Innovation, expressed his excitement. He urged his fellow graduands to work hard and embrace creativity to combat unemployment.

He also cautioned graduands to be aware of inequality, racism, sectarianism and other social issues that may affect their job prospects.
