Self exiled Ugandan comedian George Mulindwa, known as Afande Kerekere, disclosed that he never anticipated the hardships he would face upon moving to London. In a recent interview, the comedian expressed that his experience in the UK has been significantly different from his online expectations.

Kerekere mentioned that the high cost of living compelled him to take on challenging manual jobs just to get by, yet he ended up being dismissed from six different roles due to the overwhelming workload that he couldn’t cope with.

He noted that he had high hopes of reigniting his comedy career in the UK; however, his greatest letdown has come from fellow Ugandans, who he claims have actively hindered his progress instead of supporting him.

“When Ugandans in the UK encounter someone who was a celebrity back in Uganda, they tend to do everything possible to undermine that person.”

‘You were more accomplished than us in Uganda; now you’re here with us. We’re all working the same shifts. We can surpass you.'”

It should be recalled that the once upon a time famous comedian fled Uganda over a decade ago and sought refuge in the UK under the guise of being a homosexual who was being persecuted back home.

Surprisingly and shockingly, he went ahead to get in a relationship with a fellow man. Their pictures all lovey-dovey left the public back in Uganda in shock . This is because he has a family back in the country however it seems he now regrets the path he chose.
