Mbarara Archdiocese Celebrates Joyful Ordination of Six New Priests

Mbarara, Uganda – The Mbarara Archdiocese witnessed a momentous occasion today as six devoted individuals were ordained as priests.

The joyous ceremony took place at the Archdiocesan Cathedral (St. Augustine Cathedral Church), with His Grace Archbishop Lambert Bainomugisha serving as the main celebrant.




In his homily, Archbishop Bainomugisha emphasized the significance of priestly ministry in today’s world. “As priests, you are called to be shepherds of the flock, guiding and serving the people of God with compassion, wisdom, and courage,” he said. “May you be filled with the Holy Spirit, that you may bring joy, hope, and healing to all those you serve.”




The newly ordained priests are:




  • Rev. Fr. Katusiime Selenzio OFM
  • Rev. Fr. Ngahamire Ambrose OFM
  • Rev. Fr. Nuwahereza Sebastian OFM
  • Rev. Fr. Mubangizi Henry OFM
  • Rev. Fr. Amanya Lawrence SSS
  • Rev. Fr. Namanya M. Justus M.Afr.

The newly ordained priests expressed their heartfelt gratitude and humility at being called to serve the Lord and His people.

The occasion was graced by distinguished guests, including the Mbarara City Member of Parliament, Mr. Gervase Ndyanabo, President of the Uganda National Catholic Council for Lay Apostolate (UNCCLA), and his committee, among other notable figures.

The ordination ceremony was attended by a large congregation of clergy, religious, and lay faithful from across the archdiocese.




The newly ordained priests were presented with the symbols of their office and welcomed into the presbyterate with applause and tears of joy.

As the Mbarara Archdiocese celebrates this joyful occasion, it serves as a reminder of the importance of vocations to the priesthood and the vital role that priests play in the life of the Church.
