Agago – Akasa Jimmy Mokili, a retired military officer and Member of Parliament (MP) hopeful for the Agago West Constituency, has donated an ambulance to improve health services in the area.

He was warmly welcomed by hundreds of people, including a group of boda boda riders, in Agago West Constituency.

While addressing hundreds of people gathered at Lanyinyiri Health Centre II in Wimunupecek Trading Centre on Friday, February 28, 2025, Akasa encouraged them to embrace the new ambulance, which is meant to respond to emergency cases across all the sub-counties within Agago West Constituency and Agago District at large.

Hon. Paska Waliky, the female councilor representing the people of Lira Palwo/Lamiyo Sub-county, called for cooperation through the office of aspiring MP Mokili Akasa to ensure proper management of the ambulance.

She emphasized the importance of making the ambulance easily accessible, especially for expectant mothers, sick children, and anyone in need of urgent medical care within the Agago West community.

Kilama George Mukasa, the Agago NRM Chairperson, applauded Akasa Jimmy Mokili for being an open-minded individual who understands the party’s principles and ideology. He noted that by donating the ambulance, which bears President Museveni’s NRM logo, Akasa has shown that he is a committed NRM candidate who will confidently join the race in the NRM party primaries.

The handover of the ambulance, organized by Akasa Mokili, was witnessed by a large crowd that showed massive support for the people of Agago West Constituency.

“He is stepping up to reshape the future of Agago West, especially for the youth, including boda boda riders. I urge everyone in Lira Palwo to recognize that this is our time, our future, and our opportunity to unite Agago West Constituency and build it together. Agago West is a small district that needs a vibrant leader like me,” stated Akasa.

Mokili is known for his efforts toward peacebuilding and his extensive service in the military and social work, which make him well-suited to contest for the MP position of Agago West Constituency in 2026. He will be facing the incumbent MP, Anywar Ricky Richard, James Onying Penywii, and a UPC candidate identified only as Oyaka in the forthcoming elections.

Although invited, the RDC of Agago, James Nabbinson Kidega, along with the DRDC and ARDC, did not attend the event. However, the offices of the DHO and CAO were fully represented.

Akasa Mokili, a proud retired military officer from Omot Sub-county, Agago West, has been a dedicated NRM card-carrying member throughout his service in the UPDF.

Mr. Opio, a boda boda member from Obolokome in Agengo Sub-county, appealed to Akasa, the aspiring MP, to consider working closely with boda boda riders for quick response to referral cases such as malaria and road accidents, which are common in the villages, among other health issues.

Jolly Ogwang, the Honorable Councilor representing the people of Arum Sub-county in Agago District Local Government, urged the community to make good use of the ambulance to help save the lives of people at risk, especially accident victims and those in critical conditions.
