Rubanda District, Uganda –  Kabale Diocese, through its Rubanda Deanery, distributed essential food items to Rubanda District hospitals and the Rubanda Government Prison on International Women’s Day, March 8, 2025.

The distribution targeted:

  • Muko Health Center IV (Muko Sub-County)
  • Rubanda Government Prison
  • Rubanda Primary Health Care

Each beneficiary received supplies of posho (maize flour), rice, soap, millet flour, and salt.

The distribution began with a mass held at Muko Health Center IV. Following the mass, food items were distributed to inpatients in the maternity ward. The team then proceeded to the Rubanda Government Prison and concluded the distribution at Rubanda Primary Health Care.

Beneficiaries, including Namirembe Juliet, Assistant in Charge of Muko Health Center IV, and Sister Eustinah Twebembere, Facility Administrator of Rubanda Primary Health Care, expressed their gratitude to Kabale Diocese.

They highlighted the timely nature of the donation, particularly on International Women’s Day, as many were facing food shortages.

Rev. Fr. Ireneus Tibemanya, Dean of Rubanda Deanery and Parish Priest of Kishanje Catholic Parish, explained that the distribution was initiated at the request of Kabale Diocese. He also announced upcoming events:

  • The opening of Rubanda Church in May.
  • A Deanery pilgrimage to Rubanda in August.

These events are part of the Jubilee Year celebrations, observed by the universal Church every 25 years.

Rev. Fr. Fidel Ndagijimana, Pastoral Coordinator for Kabale Diocese, revealed plans to extend the food relief initiative to other deaneries within the diocese.

This effort aligns with Kabale Diocese’s commitment to the Corporal Works of Mercy during the Jubilee Year 2025.

He urged all members of the community to support those in need, referencing Jesus’ teachings in the Gospel of Matthew 25:31-45.
