Recently, NUP president Bobiwine issued a strong appeal to all party representatives to actively participate in the Kawempe by-election rallies for Nalukoola without exception.
He further instructed that all Members of Parliament who are still committed to the party should each contribute Shs 1M. Division mayors were requested to provide Shs 700k, speakers were asked for Shs 500k, while councilors were encouraged to contribute Shs 300k.
Those in LC5 positions were also asked to donate Shs 700k, and other councilors were invited to contribute whatever amount they could manage.
From the information we’ve obtained, these funds were utilized to enhance Nalukoola’s campaign efforts, covering costs such as rally venue rentals and supporting foot soldiers until voting concludes.
Reports indicate that NUP councilors, along with Members of Parliament like Ssewanyana and Kazibwe Bashir, division mayors, and LCs who ignored the president’s directive regarding the Kawempe by-elections are now experiencing anxiety after being warned that not securing a party card in the next elections will be their own responsibility.
It’s no surprise that individuals such as Latif Ssebagala were seen vying to speak on the microphone at all rallies.
