Huawei's DigiTruck Extends Digital Education Efforts to Teso Sub-Region in Uganda

Huawei Technologies has introduced the DigiTruck to the Teso Sub-Region in eastern Uganda. This initiative aims to provide digital skills to young people, farmers, and local government officials. According to a media release, the DigiTruck project aims to create sustainable job opportunities for small business owners in the informal sector, allowing them to participate in regional and national trade.

It is recognized that digital transformation plays a crucial role in developing human capital effectively. The Uganda DigiTruck project aligns with the country’s 2040 vision, National Development Plan, and Education Digital Agenda Strategy, which collectively seek to transform Uganda into a digitally advanced nation.

Gao Jian, Deputy Managing Director of Huawei Technologies Uganda, stated that this project is part of the Huawei TECH4ALL initiative, which focuses on promoting inclusion and sustainability worldwide. He mentioned, “The DigiTruck has already trained more than 1,500 Ugandans in various rural areas of Uganda. The truck is now stationed in the Teso sub-region, with plans to train 600 Ugandans over the next two months.”
