In Kampala, Uganda, the Director of Public Prosecutions, Jane Frances Abodo, oversaw the deployment of 100 recently hired State Attorneys to various field offices across the country. These State Attorneys fall under the jurisdiction of the DPP’s office.
During her address, DPP Abodo emphasized the importance of integrity, faithfulness, and hard work in fulfilling their constitutional responsibilities. She reminded them that their authority to prosecute derives from the people they serve and encouraged them to uphold high ethical standards in their roles.
DPP Abodo also mentioned that the evaluation of their performance would be conducted individually, as each State Attorney had taken a personal oath. She urged them to act in accordance with their responsibilities in their respective offices.
As part of her plan, DPP Abodo intends to organize the 100 State Attorneys into 10 groups, with each group being assigned a mentor at the Assistant DPP or Chief State Attorney level. This mentorship program aims to guide and support the new State Attorneys in becoming effective officers within the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP).
Lastly, DPP Abodo encouraged the newly recruited State Attorneys to take advantage of the diverse opportunities available in public service and to consider furthering their studies.
