A tragic accident in Te-Dam Village, Bardege along Airfield Road in Gulu city has claimed the life of Private Dr. John Olinde, a 30-year-old driver attached to SPAD/Chairman Operation Wealth Creation under Retired General Salim Saleh.
According to police, the accident occurred at around 10 am on March 30, 2025, as Olinde was driving a black Toyota Land Cruiser registration number UP 9819 back to Gen. Saleh’s residence. The vehicle reportedly left with the keys inside, moved at high speed before Olinde lost control.
The Land Cruiser swerved, mounted the roadside before crashing into a palm tree, splitting into two. Olinde died instantly, while his passenger Dan Oluka 28, sustained injuries and was rushed for medical attention.
Officers from Gulu City Central Police Station (CPS), led by Sgt. Guma, along with a patrol crew responded promptly, documented the scene and launched investigations.
The wreckage of the vehicle was towed to Gulu City CPS for inspection by the Inspector of Vehicles (IOV). Meanwhile, Olinde’s body was taken to the 4th Division Military Hospital Mortuary for a postmortem examination.
