A Call to Action for 2026 and Beyond
Dan Matsiko Malcom, the current Party Envoy of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) and Presidential flagbearer candidate for the 2026 general elections, has issued a bold and inspiring call: to rebrand, rebuild, and reclaim not only the FDC party but also the hope of millions of Ugandans who yearn for genuine change.
With a mission deeply rooted in experience, Matsiko emphasizes that reclaiming what remains of our democracy is a collective responsibility. He draws refined insight from global experiences, having trained in multiparty electoral democracy in countries like Botswana, South Africa, Tanzania, Ghana, Canada, and the United Kingdom. His extensive travels and studies have equipped him with a unique arsenal of strategies to wrest power from the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM).

A Youthful, Vibrant Leadership for a New Uganda
As a leader emerging from youth, Matsiko understands the pulse of the nation’s majority—its youth. He proposes a full-scale rebranding of FDC, injecting youthful and vibrant leadership while carrying out robust, grassroots-based mobilization. His goal is to grow the party’s numerical strength in preparation for the 2026 elections.
Dan Matsiko is not just another politician—he is a movement. A magnet for progressive ideas and inclusive political discourse, he represents hope and change. He is approachable, empathetic, and passionately committed to uplifting the voices of youth, women, and vulnerable groups across the country.
A Champion for Workers and the Marginalized
Matsiko has pledged to stand with the workforce of Uganda. From teachers, doctors, journalists, and policemen, to traders and boda boda riders, he speaks for those often overlooked. His priorities include fair wages, decent housing, access to free water and electricity (for non-commercial use), and job creation through agricultural modernization and infrastructure development.
He is a firm believer in the need for a national minimum wage and a transparent refugee and immigration policy. His leadership promises economic justice, equal opportunity, and better services for all citizens.

Environmental Stewardship and Regional Equity
Environmental conservation is another key pillar of Matsiko’s agenda. He advocates for afforestation to combat climate change threats like heatwaves, droughts, floods, and wetland encroachment. His vision is clear: a greener, more resilient Uganda.
He is also committed to ending regional imbalance. Under his leadership, every region of Uganda will have an equal voice in national matters.
Restoring Democratic Faith
Matsiko is on a mission to end voter apathy. His vision includes deepening democracy, restoring faith in the electoral process, and encouraging participation from Ugandans who have lost hope. He vows to champion freedoms of the press, speech, religion, and association—cornerstones of a healthy democracy.
He believes in respectful coexistence between traditional institutions and the central government, working hand-in-hand for the smooth running of state affairs.
A Leader Forged by Experience
Born in Bushenyi District at the height of the liberation war, Matsiko’s life journey is one of resilience and service. He studied in Bushenyi, Kasese, and Kampala, and worked across Western and Central Uganda before going into exile in 2003. He returned in 2015 to serve as the FDC Diaspora Spokesperson and External Fundraising Officer.
His political journey includes active participation in the 2016 elections and a spirited campaign for the FDC Presidency in 2017. Though he narrowly lost to Hon. Patrick Oboi Amuriat, he remained deeply involved, serving as Deputy President for the Western Region and currently as the Party Envoy and top presidential hopeful.
An academic leader in Western Uganda and the Bunyoro sub-region, Matsiko is passionate about governance reform, democracy, and institutional integrity.
