Frank Besigye Kyerere, the NRM Chairperson for Rwamucucu Sub-county in Rukiga District, has lost his bid for party positions at the parish level. At Murambi Polling Station in Nyarurambi Parish, Kyerere contested for three positions but was unsuccessful.

In the race for NRM Chairperson, Kyerere lost to Elia Niwamanya Kihumuro, who garnered 159 votes compared to Kyerere’s 131. After the loss, Kyerere contested the results and subsequently sought the positions of Vice Chairperson, General Secretary, and Publicity Secretary.

However, Kyerere’s conduct reportedly raised concerns, as he was accused of intimidating voters and interfering with the work of returning officers. He demanded a fresh vote, but this was met with resistance from the public, who turned against him. When approached by EYE Television cameras, Kyerere left the scene, allegedly abandoning his wife, Provia Kyerere.

Other NRM Election Results:

  • Kampikaho Alexander, former Rukiga District LC5 Chairperson, won the Vice Chairperson position with 71 votes, defeating Twinomugisha Sam, who received 62 votes.

  • Amedi Bende, LC5 Councilor representing Mparo Town Council, was elected unopposed to the NRM LC2 position.
