Lira City, Uganda — Tony Olipa, the newly elected NRM Chairperson for Lira City West Division, has praised the leadership of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and senior National Resistance Movement (NRM) officials following what he described as a peaceful and successful electoral process.
While addressing the media on Wednesday, Olipa extended his appreciation to Rt. Hon. Richard Todwong, Dr. Tanga Odoi, and the Lira City Registrar for overseeing a transparent and smooth election. He described his victory as the result of strong party unity, despite the challenges of the lining-up voting system.
“It wasn’t an easy process, but I took it as a friendly contest. I am grateful to the party structures and members for entrusting me with this leadership role,” said Olipa.
He pledged to work with all former contestants without discrimination, emphasizing the importance of unity.
“For those who didn’t make it to the final, we shall always stay together as one family of the NRM in Lira City West Division,” he added.
Olipa is known for his unwavering loyalty to the NRM, particularly during challenging political times. He is also a strong advocate for the formation of an NRM SACCO (Savings and Credit Cooperative Organization) in the division to promote economic empowerment among party members.
“I am a tested and trusted leader with integrity and a team spirit. Looking ahead, I remain confident that NRM members will recognize my hard work, courage, and consistency,” he said.
A member of the party, speaking on condition of anonymity, noted that Olipa deserves continued support from all NRM faithful:
“He is capable of leading the division with dignity, diligence, and commitment.”
As he begins his term as chairperson, Olipa has vowed to strengthen party structures and foster inclusiveness.
“Long live NRM. Long live Hon. Olipa Tony. Long live H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni,” the supporter concluded.
