Oscar Matsiko, Youth Aspirant for Member of Parliament Western Region, Proves His Worth; Goes Through Unopposed in All Youth Structures of Rwampara District
Amidst stiff competition in the recently concluded National Resistance Movement (NRM) party structure elections, youths across the country fully participated, and some were able to scoop big.
Our attention was drawn to Rwampara District, where a Youth MP aspirant for Western Region, Hon. Matsiko Oscar, started his political career at the village level.
Though competition was high, Hon. Oscar managed to go through unopposed right from the village, through the sub-county, up to the district.
Hon. Oscar has proved his worth after youths from Rwampara District left him unopposed for the position of Secretary for Publicity, NRM Youth League, Rwampara District.
Unlike many youths vying for the Youth MP position who feared participating in grassroots elections—fearing to lose terribly at lower levels—Oscar stood extraordinarily by going through all the NRM structures right from the village to the district.
Our interactions with the Rwampara Youth League confirmed that a block vote for Hon. Oscar Matsiko will give him a better chance at winning the position.
Who will win the position for Western Region Youth MP remains a question, as many contenders are still showing interest.
Hon. Oscar, however, stands at a big advantage.
