Obongi District Welcomes New CID Chief Amid Rising Corruption Concerns

Obongi district has received a new Officer in Charge of Criminal Investigations Department (OC CID) following a reshuffle by the CID headquarters. Mr. Natukunda Herbert, formerly the OC CID at Njeru Police Station, has been transferred to Obongi.

Mr. Natukunda replaces Ms. Akello Frances, who served in Obongi for less than a year and has been transferred to the Teso region.




The new OC CID reported for duty this past Saturday and has already met with the Obongi Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Mr. Samuel Mpimbaza Hashaka. Mr. Natukunda assured the RDC of his commitment to hard work, diligence, and professionalism in his new role.




In response, RDC Hashaka pledged his full support to Mr. Natukunda. He extended his gratitude to the Director of CID for deploying Mr. Natukunda to Obongi, noting that his arrival is timely.




The RDC further commended the police headquarters for the swift transfer, highlighting the ongoing concerns regarding unresolved corruption cases in Obongi district, with several general inquiry files still pending at the Obongi Central Police Station.
