Gulu, Uganda – National Resistance Movement (NRM) supporters in the Acholi sub-region of Northern Uganda have announced their strong backing for David Calvin Echodu’s bid for the NRM National Vice Chairman position for the Eastern Region.
They have promised him a “sealed” or “block vote” in the upcoming internal party elections.
In interviews conducted across Gulu, Agago, Pader, and Kitgum districts, prominent NRM supporters and executives lauded Echodu as a “mature and visionary leader” who has significantly contributed to national development.
They praised his understanding of various Ugandan regions, as well as the needs and abilities of both youth and adults, referring to him as “New Energy Echodu David Calvin.”
Mr. Peko Charles, an NRM supporter from Paicho, Gulu district, specifically highlighted Echodu’s “clear vision for youth and elders.” This widespread support from the Acholi sub-region follows an earlier endorsement from the Lango sub-region in May 2025.
Echodu David Calvin is vying for the position of NRM Vice Chairperson for the Eastern Region, a seat currently held by Captain Mike Mukula.
The NRM is conducting internal elections as part of its roadmap for primary and structure elections leading up to the 2026 general polls. Echodu’s campaign has emphasized engaging with grassroots leaders.
