Swangz Avenue singer Azawi, whose real name is Priscilla Zawedde, recently discussed her fashion choices and body confidence at the Sankofa album listeners’ party. Azawi has often faced criticism for her fashion sense, with some claiming it doesn’t align with feminist principles.

During the event, Azawi clarified that her fashion style has nothing to do with her sexuality. She emphasized that her choice to wear African prints, baggy pants, sneakers, and infrequent use of heels and dresses doesn’t diminish her well-endowed body.

Azawi challenged societal expectations, stating, “I want you to tell me where it was written that women and men have to dress in such a way. Those are cultures we found, and this generation is about changing stereotypes, changing the things people have grown accustomed to.”

She claimed that her attractive body is a result of her genetics and her mother’s inheritance of feminine attributes. Azawi went on to assert that her alluring body may not be rivalled by any woman when undressed. However, she prefers concealing her body in long attire as a form of self-respect.

Azawi expressed her desire to maintain her brand while avoiding confusion among her fans. She acknowledged that some view her style as not promoting feminism but stressed that she knows she is a woman.
