Kisoro, Uganda – Airtel Uganda on Monday officially launched its new Mutolere Tower Camp, situated in Mutolere Parish, Nyakabande Sub-county, Kisoro District. This strategic deployment is part of Airtel’s ongoing efforts to significantly improve network coverage and connectivity across the region.
The state-of-the-art tower is designed to cover a 10-kilometer radius, providing enhanced network roaming and broader access to digital services for local residents and businesses.
During the launch event, Emwondu Paul, Airtel’s Regional Business Manager, underscored the company’s commitment to empowering the local community.
He encouraged residents to leverage the opportunities presented by improved connectivity, specifically highlighting Airtel Money services, SIM card registration, and other Airtel-related business ventures as pathways to combat unemployment.
Anthony Sekajaako, Airtel’s Field Engineer, elaborated on the technical capabilities of the new mast, confirming its support for 2G, 3G, and 4G networks at full capacity within the 10km coverage area.
He also issued a firm warning against trespassing on the tower premises, stating that any intrusions would be treated as police matters.
The launch was presided over by Kisoro Municipality Mayor, Ndyana Richard, who commended Airtel for its dedication to enhancing service delivery. Mayor Ndyana appealed to the company to extend similar infrastructure to other underserved areas within the district and to continue supporting the municipality’s development through various initiatives.
Hakizimana Henry Junior, the local area chairperson, echoed the Mayor’s sentiments, praising Airtel for the vital infrastructural development. He assured the company of the community’s full support and cooperation in ensuring the security and smooth operation of the tower.
