Soroti, Uganda – Soroti Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Paul Eseru has called upon all electoral actors, including candidates, to ensure togetherness and unity during the NRM joint campaign.
In a letter dated June 30, 2025, RDC Paul Eseru directed and urged all candidates to desist from electoral violence ahead of the NRM joint campaign scheduled for July 1, 2025.
He explicitly stated that any candidate found involved in hate speech or voter bribery will be prosecuted as per the laws of Uganda.
The RDC has directed that a General Inquiry File be opened at Soroti Central Police Station – Katine, to handle all reports related to electoral offenses. Meanwhile, as per the RDC’s circular, any individual found committing electoral offenses will be dealt with in accordance with the law.
Political actors, their supporters, and the general public are called upon to uphold peace, respect the rule of law, and ensure a free and fair electoral process in Soroti District.
The NRM Electoral Commission, security agencies, and relevant stakeholders are closely monitoring the electoral process.
