Lira, Uganda – Professor Dr. Marus Eton has been officially sworn in as the new Chairperson of the Board of Governors for St. Gracious Secondary School in Lira.
According to the Headteacher, Mr. Martin Ojok Anyuru, the new board members took their oath of office on July 2, 2025, in the afternoon hours at Gracious Palace Hotel in Lira City. Ojok highlighted the significance of the day, noting that this marks the swearing-in of the third board since the school’s establishment in 2020, following the pioneering group.
“I am very impressed that the board has been sworn into office,” added Anyuru. He commended the school’s Director, Dr. Olet Patrick, for his wisdom in selecting the board members, recognizing them as competent policymakers for the school.
Professor Eton addressed journalists following the ceremony. Other distinguished board members sworn in include:
- Robert Abak, Resident District Commissioner (RDC) for Nebbi District
- Professor Constant Okello Obua of Makerere University
- Dr. Rhema Eton
- Kisase Irene of Soroti University
- Hon. Chris Ongom, Vice Chairperson of Oyam District Local Government
Mr. Elem Leo, the Principal of St. Gracious Schools, stated that the newly sworn-in board will serve their tenure until the year 2028, at which point new board members shall be sworn in to take over. The swearing-in ceremony was administered by Makmot Kibwanga and Company Advocates.
The School Director of St. Gracious Secondary School, Dr. Patrick Olet, commended the various school administrators for their consistent collaboration towards the betterment of the institution.
