Plans to lay to rest retired Supreme Court judge, Prof. George W. Kanyeihamba, have been put on hold as the family deals with unexpected health concerns surrounding his wife, Susan Kanyeihamba.
According to sources close to the family, Susan, a British national, went into shock upon learning of her husband’s death. The news left her deeply shaken, and she is currently under medical observation in the United Kingdom.
Doctors are closely monitoring her condition to determine whether she is physically and emotionally fit to undertake the long flight to Uganda for the burial ceremonies. A family source revealed that Susan’s health has become a major concern, and her travel has been delayed until she receives clearance from her doctors.
“Her condition is fragile. The doctors are keeping a close eye on her to ensure she’s strong enough for the journey. The family was initially supposed to travel on Wednesday night, but that may no longer be possible,” the source said.
The delay in travel has directly affected the funeral plans for the late professor, who passed away earlier this week. The family had hoped to return to Uganda promptly for burial preparations but are now focused on ensuring Susan’s safety and well-being before confirming any arrangements.
Prof. Kanyeihamba was one of Uganda’s most respected legal minds, a former Supreme Court judge and a key figure in constitutional law. His death has sparked an outpouring of grief across the country.
Family members are expected to release an official statement once new burial dates are confirmed. In the meantime, the public has been asked to remain patient and continue honoring the professor’s legacy as the family navigates this difficult moment.
