Soroti, Uganda – Captain Mike Mukula, the incumbent National Resistance Movement (NRM) Eastern Region Vice Chairperson, has officially declared his bid for re-election, pledging to champion youth employment, poverty eradication, and improved service delivery if given another term.
In his campaign address, Mukula emphasized the need to uphold the NRM’s founding principles while addressing pressing socio-economic challenges facing Ugandans.
Upholding NRM’s Founding Pillars
Mukula reaffirmed the NRM’s commitment to its four key pillars: Patriotism, Pan-Africanism, Socio-Economic Transformation, and Democracy. He credited President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and the revolutionary struggle for establishing a stable Uganda, saying it was now time to focus on transforming lives.
“NRM was built on a strong foundation of patriotism, African unity, and democracy. Now that peace and stability stretch from North to South, West to East, we must shift our focus to the fundamental issues affecting our people,”Mukula stated.
Key Priorities for Eastern Uganda
The seasoned politician outlined his agenda, which includes:
- Youth Employment – Creating sustainable opportunities for the youth through skills development and entrepreneurship support.
- Poverty Eradication – Implementing programs to uplift households from subsistence living to economic empowerment.
- Improved Service Delivery – Ensuring efficient and accountable public service in health, education, and infrastructure.
- Fighting Corruption & Wealth Equity– Promoting transparency and fair distribution of national resources.
“We must tackle corruption head-on and ensure that wealth reaches every corner of our nation. My mission is to see a prosperous Eastern Region where no one is left behind,” he declared.
Mukula called upon NRM delegates and supporters to rally behind his re-election bid, promising to be a vocal advocate for the region’s development.
“I humbly seek your votes and support to continue serving as your NRM Eastern Region Vice Chairperson. Together, we can achieve meaningful transformation,” he appealed.
As the race heats up, Mukula’s experience and development-focused agenda position him as a strong contender in the upcoming NRM elections.
