Kabale, Uganda – Police in Kabale District have launched a murder investigation after the body of a woman, believed to be Orishaba Allen, was discovered with multiple stab wounds at a local lodge.

The gruesome discovery was made on the morning of July 30, 2025, at Cheers Pub and Accommodation, situated behind the former Equity Bank building in Central East Cell, Central Division, Kabale Municipality.

Preliminary police reports indicate that the deceased checked into the lodge around 9:45 PM on July 29, accompanied by a man identified as Andy Julius, reportedly a resident of Katuna. The pair registered under these names and were assigned a room for the night.

The tragic scene unfolded the following morning when a lodge attendant, performing routine cleaning duties, found the woman’s body in a pool of blood.

She had sustained four deep stab wounds to her chest and stomach. A blood-stained knife was recovered next to the body, along with an unused HIV/syphilis test kit and a syringe.

The incident was immediately reported to Kabale Central Police Station. Authorities promptly cordoned off the scene, where crime investigators processed the area. The body was subsequently transferred to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital mortuary for a postmortem examination.

ASP Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson, confirmed the ongoing investigation. He appealed to the public, particularly those with missing relatives, to visit the mortuary to assist in identifying the victim. ASP Maate also urged anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of the suspect, Andy Julius, to come forward and aid the police in bringing the perpetrator to justice.

“Inquiries are still ongoing,” stated ASP Maate. “We call upon the public to volunteer any information that may help us bring the perpetrator to justice.”
