A fatal accident occurred on the evening of August 2, 2025, claiming the life of a Congolese man known as Ntakirutimana, a resident of Kitagoma, Busanza.
The incident took place around 18:15 hrs in Nyamagoma village along the Kisoro Bunagana highway, a busy route in the region.
According to preliminary investigations, Ntakirutimana was attempting to cross the road when he was struck by an unidentified motorcycle.
Eyewitnesses reported that after the initial collision, as he tried to recover and move away from the road, he was hit again by another motorcycle, a red Bajaj Boxer with the registration number UFT 850D.
This second impact resulted in fatal injuries, and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Kigezi region police spokesperson confirmed that ASP Ainomugisha Musa, the District Traffic Officer, along with SGT Mbabazi James and their team, arrived at the scene to conduct an investigation.
The body of Ntakirutimana was transported to Kisoro Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
The motorcycle involved in the accident has been secured at Kisoro Central Police Station, pending an Inspection of Vehicle (IOV) procedures.
Authorities are actively compiling statements from eyewitnesses to piece together a clearer picture of the events leading to this tragic incident.
