When people in Kampala admire a smiling couple walking together, they often fail to imagine the storms those two may have survived. A man identified as Derrick said that he and his wife, Maria, had appeared perfect from the outside for a long time.
He explained that they lived in Ntinda, held stable jobs, and looked like a couple with everything in order. However, he reported that things inside their home were collapsing faster than they could repair them.
According to Derrick, their problems started quietly, like small cracks that only become visible once they grow. He said they initially argued over minor issues—house chores, money, disciplining their children, and coming home late. Over time, those small disagreements turned into serious conflicts.
He stated that there were days when they would sleep without speaking to each other. Derrick claimed he began spending more time away from home, while Maria withdrew emotionally. He said they eventually became strangers sharing the same house.
Derrick revealed that the tension became so intense that even their two children noticed. He recalled them asking why their parents were always unhappy, a question that deeply hurt him.
