The leadership of Nation Media Group has officially ended its working relationship with outspoken journalist-turned-Museveni supporter Andrew Mwenda.

Mwenda has been the host of the popular Friday media roundtable on KFM, a show widely regarded as one of Uganda’s leading weekly current-affairs discussions. Over the years, it has often been compared to Kenya’s Citizen TV “News Gang” for its depth and influence.

Before aligning himself with President Museveni’s government, Mwenda built a reputation as one of the country’s boldest investigative journalists. For decades, he faced threats, arrests, and several court cases stemming from his hard-hitting radio, television, and newspaper reporting.

In his final remarks following the decision to discontinue the show, Mwenda urged mainstream media managers to rethink their strategies in an era dominated by fast-moving social media platforms. He advised that the future of traditional media lies in strong investigations, in-depth analysis, and unique storytelling rather than competing on breaking news.
