KISOZI – President Yoweri Museveni has accused the opposition, particularly the National Unity Platform (NUP), of orchestrating massive vote rigging in the 2021 elections.

“For a long time, not only last year, the opposition in Kampala has been involved in ballot stuffing. But in 2021, they went further and printed their own fake ballot papers at Kuruma Road – one million of them – and even imported 1.7 million from Dubai. Altogether, they cheated 2.7 million votes,” Museveni told journalists at his Kisozi home.

He stressed the need to safeguard future generations from disputed elections:

“From 1962, I have been telling people: you must not leave our children with the problem of contested elections.”

Museveni expressed confidence that the biometric voting system would prevent any manipulation this time around.

“With the biometric system in place, the opposition has no way of rigging the votes,” he said.
