Fort Portal City — Faith of Unity founder Omukama Ruhanga Owobusobozi Bisaka has called on his followers to rally behind President Museveni, describing him as a guarantor of peace, stability and political continuity in Uganda.
Speaking during a three-day Faith of Unity convention at Bihimba Stadium in Fort Portal City, Bisaka urged believers and members of the wider public to actively participate in national politics by supporting the National Resistance Movement (NRM) chairperson and presidential candidate, Gen Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
“Uganda’s stability must be protected through unity, hard work and responsible leadership,” Bisaka told thousands of congregants, many of them dressed in white.
He credited Museveni’s leadership for providing an environment in which religious movements and socio-economic activities can flourish.
The convention, organised by the Faith of Unity believers under the Kabalore–Bukwenda Diocese, drew thousands of participants from across the Rwenzori sub-region and beyond.
Organisers said more than 200 people joined the faith during the Fort Portal gathering, including a number of foreign nationals.
Activities began with a procession through parts of Fort Portal City, as believers and non-believers marched towards Bihimba Stadium in a show of unity and devotion. The large turnout led to temporary congestion around the venue, with many attendees seeking prayers and spiritual guidance.
During the event, Bisaka encouraged followers to complement spiritual growth with practical engagement in government programmes, emphasising wealth creation, discipline and community development.
He appealed to Ugandans to turn out in large numbers during elections to support Museveni and the NRM, whom he described as “experienced leaders with a track record of maintaining national cohesion”.
Several political leaders, including Members of Parliament and local government officials, attended the convention, saying the Faith of Unity promotes values that align with peace and national development. Some leaders praised the movement for encouraging unity and civic responsibility among its followers.
Bisaka also inaugurated more than 160 new Bahereza (faith workers) drawn from different parts of Fort Portal City to support the faith’s activities and outreach.
Following the Fort Portal convention, Bisaka and his followers are expected to continue their mission to Hoima City, where similar religious activities and mobilisation in support of President Museveni and the NRM are planned.
The Faith of Unity, founded by Bisaka in western Uganda, has in recent years increasingly blended religious teachings with messages on national unity and political participation, often drawing large crowds at its conventions.
