Wakiso School Pupil Found Dead in Suspected Suicide Case

A 14-year-old pupil of Kololo Junior School in Wakiso Town Council has been found dead in what police are investigating as a suspected suicide.

The incident happened on the night of March 3, 2026, at around 8:00 p.m. at the school located in Kayunga Cell, Gombe Ward, Wakiso District.

The deceased has been identified as Kiseka John Terry, a Primary Five pupil.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Racheal Kawala, police were notified after fellow pupils made the discovery.

“Police at Wakiso have registered a suspected suicide that occurred last night, the 3rd of March, 2026, at about 8:00 p.m. at Kololo Junior School in Wakiso Town Council,” Kawala said.

She explained that preliminary findings indicate that as pupils returned to the dormitory from evening preps, they found Terry hanging inside the dormitory and immediately alerted the school matron, who informed the school director. Police were later notified.

“Officers found the body suspended inside one of the school dormitories. The scene was documented and statements recorded to aid investigations,” she added.

The school director and the matron have been arrested to assist police with ongoing inquiries.

The body was taken to Mulago National Referral Hospital for a post-mortem examination as investigations continue to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the death.

Kawala urged parents, guardians and schools to remain vigilant.

“We urge schools, parents and guardians to promptly report to police or seek professional help whenever signs of depression or distress are observed in children. Taking time to talk to your children both at school and at home is crucial,” she said.

Investigations are ongoing.
