Christians in Rubirizi Mark Good Friday with Messages of Unity and Spiritual Renewal

Christians in Rubirizi District were urged to embrace spiritual growth, unity, love, and discipline during Good Friday commemorations, as Bunyaruguru constituency MP-elect Hon. Cadet Benjamin Buturo joined the faithful in a solemn procession at Rugazi Catholic Parish.

Addressing worshippers during the Christians’ and Catholics’ procession Mass, Hon. Buturo commended believers for their resilience, determination, and commitment to their faith, noting that such values should be sustained beyond the Lenten season.

He encouraged Christians to uphold church teachings by promoting peace, togetherness, and mutual respect, stressing that collective effort is key to building stronger communities.

Hon. Buturo further urged residents to share personal challenges with trusted friends, family members, or counselors instead of keeping them bottled up. Citing his own experiences with stress that led to hospitalization, he cautioned especially young people against isolation, noting that openness can help prevent mental health struggles.

He also warned against engaging in loan sharking practices, saying they often lead to domestic violence, poverty, hunger, and even imprisonment. He advised residents to borrow responsibly and take only loans they are confident they can repay.

Meanwhile, the Parish Priest of Rugazi Catholic Parish, Rev. Fr. Alphonse Mukundane, called on Christians to reflect on the deeper meaning of Good Friday, emphasizing themes of sacrifice, love, and redemption.

Fr. Mukundane reminded the faithful that the day marks the crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ, urging them to practice forgiveness, reconciliation, empathy, and compassion in their daily lives.

He encouraged Christians to strengthen unity within families and communities, noting that these values are essential in fostering peace and harmony.

Elsewhere, at Ndekye Archdeaconry Anglican Church, Christians also gathered to mark the occasion through similar processions.

Ven. Rev. Canon Yorokamu Tayebwa urged parents to instill mutual love and strong moral values in their children, saying this is vital for sustainable future development.

He encouraged believers to use the Easter season as a time for reflection, unity, and renewal, emphasizing peace, love, and prosperity within households and communities.
