Just hours after being slapped with a legal notice from politician and lawyer, Mukasa Mbidde’s law firm over defamatory claims against former Miss Rwanda Jolly Mutesi, singer Bebe Cool, appears to have thrown in the towel.
The self-styled Bigsize on Thursday publicly announced that he had deleted the controversial social media posts that had landed him in trouble and agreed to resolve the matter away from the public eye after guidance from Uganda’s Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
Posting on his X (formerly Twitter) account, the Awujja Kasepiki singer revealed that Gen. Muhoozi had personally called him regarding the dispute with Mutesi and advised him to drop the matter.
“As my elder and leader, he advised me to drop it, delete the tweets, and resolve it amicably off social media,” Bebe Cool wrote before adding that he appreciated the advice and agreed to follow it.
The development marks a dramatic turnaround for the singer who, only a day ago, had aggressively accused Mutesi of involvement in fraudulent activities through a series of social media posts that attracted public attention.
His retreat comes barely 24 hours after Mbidde & Co Advocates, acting on behalf of the former Rwanda beauty queen, issued a Notice of Intention to Sue, demanding an immediate retraction, apology and disclosure of the source of his allegations.
The lawyers argued that Bebe had falsely portrayed their client as a fraudster despite publicly available information indicating that the telephone number at the centre of the controversy had long been linked to impersonators and scammers and not to Mutesi herself.
Bebe Cool moved swiftly to delete the disputed publications before the expiry of the 48-hour ultimatum, leaving many to believe that the legal pressure imposed on the singer has achieved its intended objective.
A compliance acknowledgement dated June 18, 2026, signed by Mbidde & Co Advocates, formally confirmed that the Sali had complied with the demands contained in the notice served a day earlier.
The law firm noted that Bebe Cool had deleted the impugned social media posts and communicated directly with senior lawyer Dr. Fred Mukasa Mbidde, actions which it described as substantial compliance with the demands raised by their client, further indicating that, owing to the compliance, no legal proceedings would be instituted against the the love you everyday singer over the matter.
The letter effectively closed the dispute, although the law firm emphasized that Mutesi reserved the right to pursue future action should similar allegations arise again.
While the singer insists he acted on the advice of his friend Gen. Muhoozi, many are likely to conclude that it was not the phone call alone that changed the equation, but also the growing realization that Mukasa Mbidde’s legal team appeared fully prepared to test the allegations before a judge.
