DRAMA! Police Allegedly Fire Live Bullets During Bitter Property Fight Between Former Lovers

KAMPALA, Uganda — Drama unfolded in Kampala after a property dispute between former lovers escalated into chaos, with reports alleging that armed police officers fired live bullets to disperse a crowd during the confrontation.

The incident reportedly occurred at the residence of businessman Segujja Ivan, popularly known as “Nsambya Furniture Workshop,” following a bitter disagreement with his former partner, Mirembe Namuddu.

According to eyewitnesses, Mirembe stormed the residence demanding access to household property she claims to have purchased during their relationship. Sources allege that she was accompanied by a group of individuals who helped her gain entry into the premises in an attempt to retrieve the items.

The disputed property reportedly included a refrigerator, television set, gas cylinder, kitchen utensils, clothes, bedsheets, and other household belongings that Mirembe claims were acquired using her own money.

Witnesses further allege that Segujja had also mobilized a group of supporters at the residence, resulting in a tense standoff between the two sides.

As the situation escalated, reports indicate that police officers were deployed to the scene. Eyewitnesses claim that live bullets were fired into the air to disperse the crowd and restore order, although authorities had not yet issued an official statement regarding the incident by press time.

Sources further allege that Mirembe sought the intervention of senior government officials after efforts to recover the property were met with resistance.

The dispute stems from the breakdown of the couple’s relationship, which reportedly ended amid accusations of infidelity. Since their separation, disagreements over ownership of property acquired during the relationship have continued to fuel tensions between the two parties.

No injuries were immediately reported, and it remains unclear whether any arrests were made during the incident.

Police had not officially commented on the allegations at the time of filing this report.
