KAMPALA – The Ministry of Local Government has convened a high-level meeting of local government leaders to operationalise President Yoweri Museveni’s directive aimed at exposing and eliminating corruption across Uganda.
In a communication dated July 20, 2026, Permanent Secretary Ben Kumumanya invited Chief Administrative Officers (CAOs), Town Clerks, District Chairpersons, City and Municipal Council Speakers, City and Municipal Mayors, District and City Service Commission Chairpersons, and other key local government officials to attend the one-day meeting.
According to the ministry, the meeting is intended to translate the President’s directive into practical actions at the local government level, with a strong focus on strengthening accountability, enhancing transparency, improving public service delivery, and promoting inter-agency collaboration in the fight against corruption.
The meeting is scheduled to take place on August 5, 2026, at Imperial Royale Hotel in Kampala, beginning at 8:30 a.m.
The ministry said the engagement will provide a platform for local government leaders to discuss strategies for implementing the President’s directive and reinforce efforts to eliminate corruption within public institutions.
Permanent Secretary Ben Kumumanya urged all invited officials to make the necessary arrangements to attend the meeting, emphasizing the importance of coordinated action in advancing government efforts to improve accountability and governance.
Copies of the invitation were also addressed to the Minister of Local Government, the Minister of State for Local Government, all District Chairpersons, and City and Municipal Mayors, underscoring the significance of the initiative in strengthening anti-corruption efforts across local governments.
The meeting forms part of the government’s broader campaign to enhance transparency and ensure efficient service delivery through stricter accountability measures in local government institutions.
