Markets, Schools and Streets Cleaned as Rwizi Joins National Campaign

Mbarara, Uganda – The National Cleaning Day exercise was successfully carried out across the Rwizi Region on Saturday, July 25, 2026, with police reporting full public participation and no major incidents.

According to Rwizi Region Police spokesperson SP Samson Kasasira, the exercise took place from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and was conducted peacefully across all villages, town councils, municipalities, and the city within the region.

Residents joined local leaders, security personnel, and other stakeholders in cleaning residential areas, markets, schools, hospitals, streets, and drainage channels as part of the nationwide campaign aimed at improving sanitation and promoting a cleaner environment.

Police said the exercise was well received by members of the public, who actively participated in maintaining cleanliness within their communities.

The operation concluded without any disruptions or security concerns, with authorities noting full compliance from the public throughout the three-hour exercise.

Rwizi Region Police praised residents for their cooperation and encouraged communities to maintain the spirit of cleanliness beyond the designated National Cleaning Day, emphasizing that proper sanitation is essential for public health and environmental conservation.
