Swedish Embassy Donates UGX 2.3 Billion to Support Green Schools Initiative in Uganda

The Embassy of Sweden has contributed UGX 2.3 billion to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) for the Green Schools Initiative in Uganda. This initiative is a five-year program aimed at raising awareness about climate change and promoting sustainable environmental practices among 100,000 students in 100 schools across the country.

Maria Hankasson, the Swedish Ambassador to Uganda, emphasized the critical role of young people worldwide in addressing climate change. She underscored the importance of actively engaging Ugandan youth in these efforts. The donation from the Swedish Embassy aims to combat the adverse effects of climate change in Uganda by empowering the younger generation to adopt eco-friendly practices and make a positive impact on the environment.
