Days after Jovia Mutesi was announced as the Queen of Busoga, a UK-based nurse has come forward, asserting her claim as the true queen to William Wilberforce Nadiope Gabula IV, the Kyabazinga of Busoga. The announcement of Jovia Mutesi’s appointment as Her Royal Highness Inhebantu, the Queen of Busoga, was made on Thursday, September 7, 2023, by Busoga premier Dr. Joseph Muvawala, who also disclosed that a traditional ceremony had taken place earlier on that day.
The royal wedding, as announced by Dr. Muvawala, is scheduled for Saturday, November 18, 2023.
In the wake of this announcement, a UK-based woman who claims to be the Kyabazinga’s first wife and a mother to his children, has contested the royal appointment. Identifying herself as “Real Mrs. Gabula Nadiope” on Facebook, she voiced her objections, accusing Nadiope of being financially supported by her.
Real Mrs. Gabula Nadiope, who resides in London, asserted that she is Nadiope’s original wife and asserted that they share children. Her discontent stems from the alleged abuse she has endured from Queen Jovia Mutesi. She also claims to have financed their medical tests.
Real Mrs. Gabula Nadiope demands respect from Queen Jovia, asserting that the Kyabazinga holds the right to marry multiple women. She further revealed that Nadiope has another wife in Canada.
The contentious situation escalated when Real Mrs. Gabula Nadiope stated that Nadiope had informed her he was compelled to marry Jovia and warned Jovia that she might be left in the palace like a mere portrait. In no uncertain terms, she asserted her position as the Kyabazinga’s first wife and declared her intentions to remain in that role.
