MK Movement Appoints Ministers, Unveils 2026 Agenda

By Tukwatanise Musa

Earlier this year, the Chairman of the MK Movement, who also serves as the Senior Presidential Advisor on Special Operations, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, appointed the State Minister for Sports, Honorable Peter Ogwang, to represent the Teso subregion within the MK Movement.

As divisions among the people continued to grow, questions arose about how the Honorable Minister of the current government would serve the MK Movement. Initially, some members of the NRM had not perceived the MK Movement as pro-revolutionary or generationally oriented. However, this perception changed as members of the NRM government started being appointed to the generational MK Movement.

Today, the Chairman of the MK Movement once again made a surprising appointment, naming Honorable Minister Haruna Kasolo Kyeyune, a State Minister for Microfinance in the NRM government, to represent Buganda within the MK Movement. This appointment was followed by the significant addition of Mrs. Sarah Kiyimba, the RDC of Rakai district, to represent women from Buganda in the MK Movement. Notably, she is an RDC serving in the NRM government. Additionally, a young and eloquent lady, Honorable Judith Mukidi Basemera, was appointed to represent the women of Tooro within the MK Movement.

The question that remains is, who will be the next minister to be appointed to serve in the MK Movement, and what is the agenda of the Movement?

Based on research findings, the MK Movement appears to be a pro-revolutionary mass Generational Movement with the aim of facilitating a smooth and peaceful transition of power from our revolutionary leader, Mzee Museveni, to our generational leader, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba. This transition is projected for 2026, and Ugandans worldwide are rallying together to support this cause.

It’s important to note that the young generation is highly focused and determined to achieve peace and security consolidation under the leadership of Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba.

The reasons Ugandans support Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba for the presidency in 2026 are multifaceted, encompassing social, political, economic, and security factors. More insights into these reasons will be presented in my next analysis. Importantly, it should be acknowledged that Uganda faces geopolitical challenges, with rebels (ADF) in the west (DRC) and political instability to the north (Sudan). Therefore, Uganda requires a strong leader capable of consolidating peace and stability.
