Ambassador Judyth Nsababera, the Consul General of Uganda in Guangzhou, China, emphasized the investment potential of Uganda during an event at Meta Incubator – Wisdom Valley in Panyu District, Guangzhou, celebrating Uganda’s 61st Independence Anniversary.

According to Ambassador Nsababera, Uganda offers various investment opportunities in sectors such as tourism, agriculture, agro-processing, oil and gas, human resources skills development, information technology, and science and technology. She also mentioned additional prospects in mining, mineral beneficiation, energy, and infrastructure development.

“In alignment with the Belt and Road Initiative and the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), the Chinese government remains dedicated to advancing Uganda’s and Africa’s industrialization. These initiatives play a crucial role in supporting production capacity, driving economic development, and transforming societies,” stated Ambassador Nsababera.

During the event, Ambassador Nsababera announced the forthcoming construction of a permanent consulate building, the Chancery and Official Residence, in Guangzhou. Additionally, Uganda Airlines, the national carrier, is in the final stages of launching direct flights between Entebbe International Airport in Uganda and Baiyun International Airport in Guangzhou.

“I assure you of our full cooperation and support as you invest in Uganda, and I invite you to visit Uganda not only for business but also to experience our rich culture, fresh cuisine, stunning natural landscapes, and, most importantly, the warm hospitality of the Ugandan people,” added the ambassador.

Uganda has reaped the benefits of its bilateral agreements with China, as well as the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) and the Belt and Road Initiative. These mutually advantageous relations have enabled Uganda to address underlying challenges that have hindered Africa’s potential for economic and social development.
