The Kazo District NRM team has embarked on a series of visits to sub-county leaders, engaging both stamp holders and members of NRM structures in strategic meetings aimed at strengthening coordination and addressing community concerns.
These visits, conducted in collaboration with the district leadership, also include participation from technocrats who provide guidance and respond to key questions from the community.
As a district where all Members of Parliament are NRM flag bearers, Kazo has continued to see its MPs take center stage in these meetings. So far, the District Woman MP, Hon. Jenifer Muheesi, has visited nine sub-counties, actively facilitating the meetings and ensuring attendees receive refreshments. In some sub-counties, Hon. Muheesi has personally led the discussions, while in others, her office has been represented by Jonan Mugizi, Dr. Wallen Amanya, and Madam Kaconco.

Notably, Madam Kaconco played a key role in representing the office at the NRM visit in Kyampangara sub-county, reinforcing efforts to combat poverty in the district.
The mobilization process is ongoing, with today’s focus on Engari Sub-County, where the team is engaging local leaders at the sub-county headquarters.
Beyond political mobilization, Hon. Muheesi has also announced plans for an upcoming Easter Cup Tournament, an initiative aimed at fostering unity and recreation. As the saying goes, “Work without play makes Jack a dull boy,” and through this initiative, the youth and the general community will have an opportunity to engage in sports and leisure.

Additionally, Hon. Muheesi has encouraged all residents to take advantage of the current rainy season by actively engaging in farming.
She emphasized the importance of agriculture as a means to eradicate poverty and ensure food security in Kazo, urging locals to focus on crop cultivation. Her message to Kazonians remains clear: “Obumbiine Nimbaasa” (Unity is Strength).
At the ongoing sub-county engagements, LC5 Chairman Mugisha Samuel Katugunda officially welcomed Jonan Mugizi as the guest of honor, representing Hon. Muheesi. In his speech, Mugizi expressed gratitude to the people of Engari for their continued support of Hon. Muheesi’s development programs.
He further encouraged residents to invest in agriculture, reaffirming that farming remains the backbone of Africa’s economy. In a special message to women, he highlighted the Kazo Women’s SACCO, urging them to take advantage of the low-interest loans available rather than leaving such financial opportunities to men.

On the issue of coffee farming, Mugizi advised Engari residents to consult their local coffee coordinators.
He also assured them that coffee seedlings would be distributed across various sub-counties in September as part of the office’s agricultural support initiatives.
As the district NRM visits continue, the team remains committed to grassroots empowerment, poverty eradication, and sustainable development across Kazo. Updates on upcoming meetings and initiatives will be shared in due course.
