Obongi, Uganda – The Vice Chairperson of Obongi District, Mr. Okuonzi Luis Drale, is currently experiencing serious stomach upset over what is likely to happen to him following a petition letter to the State House Anti-Corruption Unit accusing Mr. Drale of extorting money from applicants.
According to Mr. Ronald Akule’s letter to the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, Mr. Okuonzi demanded Shs 4,300,000, which he sent to his mobile phone and the bank.
However, Akule said he never got a job despite possessing the required qualifications.
Evidence of money transactions that this media house has obtained shows the first amount of Shs 500,000 deposited to Mr. Okuonzi via his mobile money number 0777884469. Another Shs 1 million was wired to the same number, and the balance was transferred via the bank.

The Ankole Times has learnt that Mr. Akule is one of the few brave persons who have dared to expose this to the public domain.
Mr. Akule calls upon the State House Anti-Corruption Unit to intervene in the matter so as to save the image of the NRM government in the district.
Several calls to the mobile phone of Mr. Okuonzi for a comment were fruitless after Mr. Okuonzi failed to pick up our reporter’s calls or respond to our SMS texts.
Mr. Samuel Hasaka Mpimbaza, the Resident District Commissioner of Obongi, said corruption in Obongi had been the order of the day before he was transferred to the district.
He confirmed that the complainant had reported the extortion case to him and that he is ready to cooperate with other organs of the state to ensure that corrupt officials are dealt with.
