The people of Kamuli District and Kamuli Municipality should be ready for the toughest election ever as Salamu Musumba is about to reclaim her seat from the current politicians of Kamuli. Musumba, a renowned FDC leader in the Eastern region of Uganda, is set to make a political U-turn and claim top political positions in Kamuli currently occupied by other politicians in Kamuli District.
Salamu Musumba, a founding member of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), has revealed that she is going to contest as a representative of good governance and public trust in Kamuli come the 2026 general election without fear or favor.
She served as a member of parliament for two terms in Kamuli. According to her, she is a leader by choice, not by accident because “we have so many leaders by accident and when they get to leadership, they don’t know what to do,” narrated Musumba. “I will be offering myself as a leader in the next election. The biggest option and demand from my people is to go back and offer leadership as a district chairperson of Kamuli. Another option of being a woman member of parliament is always available to me in Kamuli as a sure deal. Bujaya again is an option if I want because I am married there.”
“So what I am doing, I am consulting stakeholders, but I would like to assure you that I haven’t decided. I can even go for the presidency if I want, and I can go through in 2026,” added Salamu.
“I do believe there are few Ugandans who are ready to lead and lead well. I am among them as a living testimony because I know a lot about local government and leadership at the national level,” echoed Musumba.
She was speaking to The Ankole Times newspaper recently in a one-on-one interview from Lira City. Salamu promised to make Kamuli Municipality or District great again as she compared way back during the period of the Constituency Assembly and the early 1990s when some of them were still in leadership, with a difference compared to the current leadership of the 11th Parliament of Uganda.
