Veteran singer Desire Luzinda has encouraged young female musicians to steer clear of indecency in their pursuit of quick success in the music industry.
The retired singer, who came back to support fellow artist Levixone at his concert tonight at University Inn in Mbarara, shared that having experienced a similar situation, there is nothing positive about it.
It’s important to remember that Desire faced a notorious scandal involving a leaked video back in 2014. This video went viral and remains vivid in the minds of many Ugandans, ranking high on the list of shameful moments. During that time, the singer even capitalized on the public’s attention, releasing a song titled Ekitone.
Years later, she turned away from her secular lifestyle and music career, dedicating her life to God. Throughout her career, she encountered various scandals, including relationships with several men such as Lwasa, Capt. Juma Seiko, Ben Mwine, and Frank Emuobor, the one responsible for leaking the video, among others.
After her conversion to Bulokole, she moved to the United States. Many female musicians and entertainers have found themselves in similar predicaments, with the latest being the emerging artist Gloria Busingye, also known as Gloria Bugie.
However, Desire believes that while such behaviors might provide temporary fame and help with trending, they ultimately lead to regrets and a damaged spirit. She encouraged these singers to learn from her experiences.
“I would like to advise young aspiring female artists to avoid such behaviors. They may appear to yield immediate results, making you popular and trending. But as someone who has gone through such a circumstance, I can say there is nothing beneficial about it. It only results in emotional turmoil and regrets,” she stated.
Many musicians, particularly female artists, have chosen to build their careers on indecency. Despite having the talent to succeed, they frequently opt for this path of degeneration to achieve rapid success.
Since this is what a large portion of the audience prefers, they too are tempted to follow this approach, yet it proves unviable over time.
