The head of the National Unity Platform, NUP, Hon Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, also known as Bobi Wine, has sparked mixed reactions after he disregarded a journalist who has not been particularly supportive of him at singer Alexander Bagonza, popularly known as A Concert, which took place last night at the Kampala Serena Hotel.
As a close friend of the Wuyo singer, Kyagulanyi arrived at the venue with some of his team members, including Nubian Li.
The singer-turned-politician walked through the main entrance along the red carpet, where he was eagerly welcomed by paparazzi. Among them was Bukedde’s Symo Omunene Womukibuga.
Having known the Firebase CEO for an extended period, Symo attempted to fist bump Bobi Wine, but he brushed it off and simply waved at him instead. It was Nubian Li who observed this interaction and tried to console the journalist, but the incident had already caught the attention of netizens.
While some took the opportunity to mock the journalist, others viewed it differently. In fact, they described the behavior as immature and argued that if Bobi Wine truly aspires to be a leader for the people, he should learn to engage with even those who criticize him.
A well-known NUP supporter stated on X that “If Bobi Wine is really a leader, he should stop carrying that hate . Even someone criticizes him on daily he shouldn’t be bothered by words . You will see what he has done at the Apass show entrance.”
Apparently, Symo has not been particularly amicable towards Bobi Wine lately, often making light of his political efforts. These instances appear to have resonated with the former presidential candidate, who took them to heart and seized the moment to express his feelings without hesitation.
This is why some have backed his actions, suggesting it’s better to be straightforward about disliking someone. Moreover, if the other party does not favor you and speaks ill of you, it is only fair to make it clear that you are not friends.
