Agago District, Uganda – The Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Agago, Nabbinaon James Kidega—commonly known as “Nock”—has issued a stern warning to the public and supporters of NRM candidates against removing or defacing campaign posters ahead of the party’s primaries.
While addressing hundreds of residents, including village registrars, at a community gathering held at Lira Palwo Town Council headquarters in Agago West Constituency last Tuesday, Kidega emphasized the importance of maintaining a peaceful and fair campaign environment.
He urged the public to support NRM party chairman, H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, as the country heads toward the 2026 general elections.
During the meeting, Mzee Kidega Ensio, a catechist from Abone Agangkal Cell in Lira Palwo Town Council, appealed to the RDC to conduct civic education across the district, citing a lack of awareness among voters. He also expressed frustration over the delayed compensation for Acholi war debts claimants, saying the matter has remained more of a “song” than a reality for most affected families.
Okidi Alfred, the LC1 chairperson of Dano Bedo Kiwadi Cell in Bulutwomo Ward, accused a local police officer of bribery. He called on the RDC to intervene and facilitate the officer’s transfer from Lira Palwo Police Station.
In response, RDC Kidega warned that anyone caught removing, tearing, or defacing posters of any candidate would be apprehended and prosecuted. He added that his office would soon launch an operation to crack down on culprits engaged in such acts of sabotage.
Currently, several candidates are actively campaigning for NRM party positions in Agago:
-
For LCV Chairperson, candidates include Abalo Lillian Ongom, Otto Wilson, Opio Leonard Ojok, and Ateng Wilfred John.

For NRM Woman MP, aspirants include Anek Nancy Obita Odong and Hon. Akori Beatrice Akello, the State Minister for Economic Monitoring.
