State Minister for Children and Youth Affairs, Hon. Balaam Barugahara, has advised National Unity Platform (NUP) leader and musician Robert Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine, to consider working with government following his second defeat in the presidential race.
In a public message shared on social media, Balaam appealed to Bobi Wine to step away from active politics and instead channel his influence into national development, particularly in youth empowerment, music, and ghetto transformation.
“Honorable @HEBobiwine, my humble advice to you as one of Uganda’s music stars: consider applying for a deployment in government and working alongside H.E President @KagutaMuseveni,” Balaam wrote.
He argued that Bobi Wine’s personal story of rising from hardship to national prominence positions him well to make a positive contribution outside opposition politics.
“You have the potential to make a meaningful impact on ghetto transformation, music, and the broader cultural landscape. With your story of overcoming adversity, you could be a valuable asset,” Balaam added.
The minister encouraged Bobi Wine to reach out directly to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, whom he described as the “Father of the Nation,” as well as other senior government officials, including the Senior Presidential Advisor on Special Assignments and the Chief of Defence Forces, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
“I encourage you to reach out and speak to the Father of the Nation, the democratically elected President of Uganda for the 2026–2031 term, General Museveni,” he said, adding, “I am here to assist you.”
In a more direct political appeal, Balaam suggested that Bobi Wine should exit electoral politics altogether.
“Hon. Kyagulanyi, it’s time to move on from politics. Your true calling lies elsewhere. Leave the political scene to the seasoned leader, Mzee Museveni,” he stated.
Balaam’s remarks have sparked debate online, with supporters and critics weighing in on whether Bobi Wine should accept such advice or continue his political journey as an opposition figure.
